The duopoly is committed to corporate and big donors. It’s their business model now, and it’s why they are beyond reform.
If you still have hope in electoral politics, please work to build viable alternatives to Democrats and Republicans. Those parties ain’t changin’. Just pick an existing party and go all-in. Or start a new one. Viable alternatives will not manifest themselves.
Having said that, I’m increasingly convinced that it’s too late for electoral politics reformers, me included. Given the toddler-like refusal of the top 20% to enact or even countenance systemic change, I think history suggests what happens next. The 80% of Americans harmed by the U.S. economic system will build dual power. Increased unionization and labor actions—probably combined with climate strikes, general strikes, and acts of civil resistance and disobedience—will give workers enough leverage to make an ultimatum.
Pick a Party. Any Party.
